Superman Review: Up up and away!

Overview

I was skeptical of James Gunn's Superman at first. But after watching it I can safely say that I was wrong. Superman is a great start for Gunn's DCU and tells a great story backed by really good acting.

Plot

The plot of Superman is actually one of the better superhero movie plots I've seen. The plot goes deep into topics such as Superheroes and politics, and Superman's humanity is a key aspect of the plot. There are conspiracies and a bunch of subplots that all lead somewhere.
Lex Luthor
But a key part of the movie is the character development. Superman, Luthor, Louis and more show a very large amount of character development throughout the movie. Some characters like Green Lantern are used only as side heroes, while others like Mr. Terrific (Who I had no idea existed before the movie) plays a key role in the storyline. The plot focuses on Superman and how he is a model hero who never really does anything wrong. Even little notes to that like Superman saying things like "What the hey" and other similar lines. Lex Luthor however is a very well done villain. Lex has one soul focus: kill Superman. He studies him to watch his moves, he knows all of his weaknesses and he uses Superman's past and good nature to manipulate him. Lex is one of the better recent Superhero film villains.
The Daily Bugle staff
Superman and his allies face multiple massive threats throughout the film. These range from massive cracks tearing through cities to giant lizard beasts. These fight scenes are all very well done, but they also have very important plot elements. One of the movies key strengths is the plotline.

Characters

Like my other favorite superhero film from this year, (Thunderbolts*) Superman's cast is absolutely incredible. The characters are extremely well written and well done, and the acting in this movie is extremely good. Each character is portrayed very well. Even side characters.

Superman is attacked by an angry mob.
Lex Luthor is a very evil and well done supervillain, Ultraman and the Engineer are both great hench-villains. Louis is portrayed very well and honestly this is the most I've ever liked Superman. There also is a very humorous side to the movie. From "super squirrels" to robots sad they aren't named Garry, this movie is pretty funny at times. The characters all are well written and fit perfectly in the plot an the universe.

Execution

Superman is a very well executed film. DC Studios successfully translates Superman's powers to the big screen. Superman is a boy scout, while Luthor is a irredeemable monster. The fights are extremely well done, the special effects are pretty good. And the movie also has a humorous element that is well done and very funny at times. The movies plot is perfectly fitting for a Superman movie and has you glued to your seat through it's twists and turns.
Superman saves a child
Overall a very well executed film.

Verdict

Superman is a great start for Gunn's DCU. The movie tells a great plot, has great acting and one of the best villains I've ever seen in a superhero film. While not my favorite DC movie (That honor goes to The Batman from 2022) It's still a great movie and a must watch for any Superman movie.

Top 10 best Video game comic adaptations.

This is my picks for the top 10 best Video Game comic adaptations. starting with number 10. 10: Sonic The Hedgehog (IDW) I always thought STH was better with Archie. but that doesn't mean this one's bad. I've only read volumes 1,2,3, and uh... 7. (No idea why. Just got it from the library.) The stories are kind of B+ compared to Archie in 1 but it quickly gets better. Whereas Archie created its own freaking universe IDW follows the games. it's still a good read for Sonic nuts. Score 8.7/10⭐   9: Batman Arkham Knight: Genesis This is kind of cheating. Comic to video game to comic... again. It's a quality video game comic that is a prequel to Batman Arkham Knight. It follows a robin (Tim Drake... I think) as he becomes the Arkham Knight to extract revenge on Batman and Joker. it's a good read (actually one of the first Batman comics I ever read. I'm a Marvel guy.) overall it's an 8.9/10⭐ 8: Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time An amazing adapta...

Secret Level: Unreal Tournament: XAN episode review.

Pre-Opinion As someone who has never played Unreal Tournament (I was always a Quake guy.) This was still the coolest looking episode. Out of all the games in Secret Level I've only ever played Mega Man and DnD. But I went with UT first and I was not disappointed. Plot The episode begins with a Liandri corporation mining group booting up a Mech team. One green robot fails its startup process and must reboot. A nearby miner starts whacking the green robot with a wrench. This damages the robot and sort of unlocks his free will. Over time we see the green robot (Xan) Witness the Liandri corporation miners kill and damage the other robots. And Xan survives each workday. Until one day he decides to take action. Xan attacks the miner holding the controls for all the other robots and they fight back. The Arena of the Unreal Tournament. Xan and his mechanical allies destroy the mining outpost but are captured shortly after. We then see that Xan copied the robot control code and is ...

HALO: Original novel series... is it worth it? All 6 books ranked

Today I am going to go over all 6 of the original Halo Novels: Fall of Reach, The Flood, First Strike, Ghosts of Onyx, Contact Harvest and The Cole Protocol. I will rank and rate each one and rate the full franchise. NOTICE: This post will include some minor spoilers. 6: The Flood by William C. Deitz. (No. 2 in the series) The Flood is good. I like it as a Halo CE fan. However, it's not as good as the other ones. The reason is while it gives us a huge insight on what everyone else on the Halo is doing while John 117 is doing his thing. But the problem is that when it is on the Master Chief parts, he basically just kills things. there's no method to the madness. and the author quickly runs out of ways to say: "Master Chief kills the Unngoy." It's still pretty good but can't match up to the rest of the novels. Score: 84  🌠 5: Contact Harvest by Joseph Staten.  (No. 0 in the series) This is a pretty good prequel novel for the series. It's also the first o...
